Abstract

745,155. Inflating valves. AVON INDIA RUBBER CO., Ltd. March 17, 1954 [April 13, 1953], No. 10058/53. Class 135. A valve for footballs &c. comprises a resilient body 2 with a T-shaped air passage 11, 12 and a plug 14 with end flanges 16 situated in the head of the T. The plug, which is initially of larger diameter than the bore 12, may be of rubber but harder than the body, or of non-resilient material such as metal, hard plastic, &c. The end flanges 16 hold the plug in position during inflation and deflation. The passage 11 is tapered towards the plug so as to reduce the area to be sealed and is formed at its upper end 10 to retain a pump nozzle. Deflation is effected by inserting a stem through the passage 11 to deform the plug.
