Abstract

744,733. Forming fibre fleeces. LOHMANN, J., BARTH, G. A., and LOHMANN, K., [trading as LOHMANN KOMM.-GES.]. Dec. 30, 1953 [Dec. 31, 1952], No. 36211/53. Class 120(1). A multi-layer fleece is formed by forwarding a single-layer fleece V, Fig. 6, on a first conveyer belt I and feeding successive severed lengths F of such fleece transversely on to a second conveyer belt II which delivers them in contiguous arrangement on to a continuous fleece moving on a third conveyer belt III. Belt I is carried on a first carriage which is reciprocated along fixed rails 13, Fig. 1; belt II is carried on a second carriage reciprocated along rails 23 on a third carriage which is itself reciprocated along fixed rails 21. The movements of the belts and carriages are so correlated that the following sequence of operations takes place: (a) the first carriage moves in direction x so that a length of fleece V is drawn off a roll 10 and belt I overlies belt II in the dotted position 18, Fig. 1, and as shown in Fig. 5; (b) the first and third carriages retract and belt I advances to lay the length of fleece on belt II; a severing device associated with belt I operates to leave a severed length F of fleece on belt I, Fig. 6; (c) while the first carriage moves forward again to repeat the cycle, the second carriage and belt II move in opposite directions to lay the fleece length F transversely on to a continuouslymoving fleece, or between two fleeces, on belt III, Fig. 7; the second and third carriages then move belt II back to the Fig. 5 position. The timing is such that the fleece lengths Fare deposited contiguously on belt III.
