Abstract

744,366. Bread-making. BAKER PERKINS, Ltd. Nov. 5, 1953 [Nov. 5, 1952], No. 27827/52. Class 87 (2). A bread tin 21 is tilted about one of its ends and a plurality of dough pieces (as shown, four) are fed in succession and in parallelism to the same point at the upper end of the tin. Each dough piece except the last (i.e., as shown, the first three) rolls down the inclined bottom of the tin and the pieces lie one behind another, but the last one lies where it falls. As shown the tins are supported by an inclined conveyer 19 but may alternatively be pushed along inclined rails. The conveyer 19 is continuously driven, the tins being arrested thereon by stop means (not shown) actuated by counting means 22 which operate on completion of a count of four dough pieces. The four pieces are formed from an initial piece 1 which, after elongation between a plate 4 and a conveyer 2, is cut into four by rotary knives 6. The four cut pieces fall onto a transversely-moving conveyer 10 which delivers them one after another to a conveyer 11, the pieces being steadied by counterweighted tiltable flaps 12 and being delivered between fixed guides 13. Conveyer 11 takes the pieces under a moulding plate 14 whence they fall into the tin. The plate 14 has a dough-piece-restraining flap 18 which may be replaced by a roller.
