Abstract
744,008. Grinding. WURTTEMBERGISCHE METALLWARENFABRIK. April 24, 1953 [April 25, 1952]. No. 11435/53. Addition to 678,058. Class 60 A method of finishing work piece surfaces in which a grinding, polishing or other working material in a loose, preferably powdered, granular or pasty condition forms a rotating ring 4 of material under the action of centrifugal force about a shell or drum 1 rotating about its central vertical axis, in which ring the workpiece 5 is wholly or partly immersed from the inside of the ring of material, is characterized in that the workpiece 5 is held by its holding device 6, 7 in the rotating ring of material in an immersion position such that the tangent 11 to the inner wall of the shell or drum 1 makes with the tangent 10 to the surface 9 of the work piece 5 an angle # lying between 5 degrees and 35 degrees and preferably between 15 degrees and 25 degrees. The tangents converge in the direction of rotation of the shell or drum. In the case of the curved surface . 9<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 4 the angle #1 is 35 degrees and angle #2 is 5 degrees. The position of a workpiece may be automatically changed during treatment, thus enabling each part of its surface to he treated correctly.
