Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate peripheral edge processing work and improve the polishing effect, by mounting a soft contact lens, with its concave side down, on a lap together with a small amount of liquid, and vibrating the lap. CONSTITUTION:Rotary motions are initiated by a motor 6, and are transmitted to a vibration generating part 4 through a flexible coupling 8. The vibration generating part 4 consists of a bearing 10 and an unbalance weight 9. By rotating the unbalance weight 9 and providing a flexible joint 5 between a motor base 7 and the vibration generating part 4, circular swivel motions are applied to the lap 3. When vibrations are given to the lap 3, the contact lens 1 being mounted on the lap 3 with its concave side set down spins on its axis, so that polishing is done through mutual motions of the lens 1 and the lap 3. Thus, the work is simplified because alignment and securing of the lens 1 are not necessary, and the lens peripheral edge may be finished smoothly.
