Abstract
A film of Ni-containing alloy, particularly a Ni-Cr alloy, is formed on an article by thermal evaporation from a filament consisting of W having a coating of Rh or Pt. The deposition of "Nichrome" (Registered Trade Mark) from a helical Rh-coated W filament on to a glass article in a vacuum of 10-4 mm. Hg. is described by way of example. Films may also be deposited on articles of plastic materials, such as phenolic, epoxy or polyester resins, or of ceramic materials such as porcelain.
