Abstract

743,066. Wave-guides. SPERRY CORPORATION. July 1, 1952, No. 16601/52. Class 40 (8). In a wave-guide system, the leakage of microwave energy is prevented by a choke system between parts of the system spaced apart by a distance small compared with one quarter wavelength. The choke comprises a series of metal tines, mutually parallel and equal in length to an odd multiple of a quarter wavelength. Chokes embodying rectangular, elliptical and circular cross-section tines are shown in Figs. 9, 10, 11, 12. Rectangularsection wave-guide systems incorporating the choke are described in connection with a single wave-guide having a gap along one edge, a movable probe device, and a variable transfer directional coupler.
