A balloon control device for textile spinning frames consists of a wire wound with a plurality of openspaced turns in the form of a helix and having an openended upper turn so that the yarn being spun can be passed to the inside of the device without threading the said yarn therethrough. As shown, a helical coil of round wire 1 is secured to an upstanding part 3 at the rear of the ring rail 5. The pitch of the turns may vary from base to apex. In a modification, the coil is attached to a rail which moves independently of the ring rail. Specification 673,733 is referred to.
