Abstract

The invention comprises compounds (other than those claimed in the parent Specification) of formula <FORM:0742441/IV(a)/1> wherein R is a chain of up to 12 carbon atoms in length saturated with hydrogen or monovalent alkyl radicals containing fewer carbon atoms than said chain; "alkylene" includes cycloalkylene and interposes 2 or 3 carbon atoms between the nitrogen atoms; n is 1 or 2; x is 1, 2, 3 or 4; and M is H and/or Na, K, Li, Ce, Rb, ammonium or a substitutedammonium group. Compounds in which M is H are prepared by the procedure described in the parent Specification using appropriate starting materials, e.g. a 2-chloroalkyl-pyridine and 1 : 2 - diamino - cyclohexane, 1 : 2 - diamino - cyclopentane or tetra - (ethylethylene)-pentamine, and these compounds may be converted into their mono-, di-, tri-, or higher salts by dissolving appropriate quantities of poly-acid in an aqueous medium containing the desired alkali metal base, ammonia or amine, and crystallizing out the salt so formed.
