Abstract

741,744. Resilient couplings. HINDMARCH, T. Oct. 20, 1953 [March 18, 1953], No. 7463/53. Class 80(2) A resilient coupling consists of two axially arranged relatively rotational members, each of which is formed of one or more elements, the members being linked together for torque transmission by two or more resilient units. Each unit comprises two semi-cylindrical abutments 5, 6 separated by resilient means 9, 10 and connected by cylindrical guides 7, 8. The resilient units may be inserted or removed from the coupling without dismounting the rotational members. One rotational member may comprise discs 1, 2, fixed together and the other member consists of a disc 3 therebetween. Keep plates 11, 12, prevent axial displacement of the resilient units. The abutments 5, 6, have tapped holes 13, 14, for engagement with a tool for removal of the resilient unit after removal of a keep plate. The guides 7, 8 may be provided with hydraulic damping means. The various resilient units may be at the same or different radial distances from the centre of rotation. Specifications 594,904 and 607,940 are referred to.
