Abstract

A ceramic composition is obtained by firing a batch comprising titania and at least 3 per cent by weight of clay, kaolin or similar substance together with sufficient baria to neutralize both titanic and silicic acids present to barium metatitanate and barium metasilicate. In addition, other compounds can be present, e.g. the metatitanates of strontium, calcium and magnesium, magnesium orthotitanate, barium zirconate and barium stannate. Organic plasticizing agents can also be present.
