Abstract

741,476. Cooling-radiators for internalcombustion engines. SOC. ANON. DES USINES CHAUSSON. July 7, 1952 [July 17, 1951], No. 17049/52. Class 64(3). A cooling-radiator for an internal-combustion engine comprises a non-metallic part of plastic organic material such as synthetic resin, connected to a metal part, the edge portion of one part having an integral portion made of material similar to that of the other part for connection to the other part. In the forms described, a header box of synthetic resin is secured to a metal tube plate. In Fig. 1, a metal rim 14, embedded in and protruding from a thickened edge of the header box 1, is welded to an upturned edge 17 of the tube plate 2. In Figs. 4 and 6, a rim 41 of synthetic resin is moulded to the suitably shaped edge of the metal tube plate 28 and is thereafter connected to the rim of the header box 26 either by a highfrequency welding operation, Fig. 4, or by means of a non-polymerised resin or glue applied as shown in Fig. 6 at 44 or at the joint 18.
