Abstract
739,860. Machines for moulding tiles. O'RAHILLY, A. March 29, 1954 [March 30, 1953], No. 9077/54. Class 87 (2). A "doctor" for a tile moulding machine has a hard facing 9, as of tungsten carbide, brazed or welded to a softer backing part 10 (e.g. of cast iron or mild steel). The face 9 may have a "toe" 9a of tool steel and a "heel" part 9b of tungsten carbide. To. permit a complex contour such as that shown in Fig. 3 the "doctor" may be made in several parts 10 held together by bolts through bores 11. In operation the material, e.g. concrete, is fed into the hopper 5, Fig. 2, and a roller 7 forces it between palette conveyer 6 and the lower surface 9 of the "doctor" 8.
