Abstract
739,627. Rotary engines. SVENSKA ROTOR MASKINER AKTIEBOLAG. Feb. 3, 1954, No. 3182/54. Class 110 (2). A rotary engine or compressor of the meshing- screw type shown in Fig. 4 through which passes fluid at a high temperature, has a casing provided with end flanges 2 and end plates 3, secured together by bolts or the like, the peripheral portions of the flanges and/or the plates being divided into separate segments 26. The segments may be made by slots 24, preferably ending in circular parts 25, between the bolt holes 12, or the slots may extend outwards from the bolt holes themselves. The object of the invention is to reduce stresses in the metal, due to heat differences. Fluid enters at a port 1 and is discharged through an outlet 9. Rotors 15, 18 may be cooled by means of passages 22, 23 through them. Cooling channels may also be provided in the flanges and end plates. Other cooling passages 20, 21 are located in the casing.
