Abstract

739,259. Cigarette holders. E.F.G., Ltd. Jan. 25, 1954 [Feb. 20, 1953; Dec. 16, 1953], No. 2169/54. Class 130. A cigarette holder comprises a tube 14 having a cylindrical portion and a flared end portion 12 adapted to receive a cigarette 11 and a plug 16 of filter material is housed in the tube and spaced from each end thereof, the plug 16 consisting either of fibres extending longitudinally of the tube 14 to provide substantially longitudinal smoke passages or of wadding which is rolled up to provide longitudinal smoke passages between the turns of the roll. The tube 16 is preferably made of a strip of helically wound waterproof paper the edges of which are secured by a waterproof adhesive and it may be provided with an outer paper tip 15. The plug 16 may be formed of carded cotton fibres which may be wrapped in a thin paper tube before being fitted in the holder 14; alternatively it may be formed from a strip of cellulose wadding which has granules of silica gel scattered thereon and which is then rolled up. The plug 16 is preferably spaced about <1>/8 inch from the mouthpiece end and the flare 12 projects about <1>/32 inch beyond the radius of the tube 14.
