Abstract
738,864. Microphones. BRITISH BROADCASTING CORPORATION. May 27, 1954 [March 25, 1953], No. 8316/53. Class 40 (4). In a ribbon microphone, unwanted induction effects caused by stray alternating magnetic fields are minimized by the provision of four rigid conductors 21 - 24 symmetrically dis - posed about the ribbon 10 and electrically connected between one end of the ribbon and one output terminal of the microphone, the other output terminal being connected to the other end of the ribbon. The four conductors 21-24 are arranged to fit against the tapering sides of the magnet polepieces (not shown). The microphone is mounted upon a support 33, which contains a transformer, by means of two swivel joints 35, and the electrical connections, which are duplicated, are effected by means of two twisted pairs of flexible leads 37 and 38 passing through the joints 35 in a direction parallel to the pivotal axis of the joints.
