Abstract

738,862. Resilient mountings. METALASTIK, Ltd. March 24, 1954 [March 24, 1953], No. 8017/53. Class 108 (3). A resilient mounting link 11 comprises an encasing element 15, a pair of attachment elements 16, 17, and rubber filling the annular spaces between the exterior surfaces of the elements 16, 17, and the interior surface of the element 15, and the space 22 between the elements 16, 17. As shown, two links 11, 12 are employed in the mounting of a marine engine. The elements 16 of each link are connected by bolts 26 to respective pairs of lugs on a channel-sectioned member 14 rigid with a ship's bearer member. The elements 17 are similarly bolted to a channel member 13 rigid with the engine. The rubber in the space 22 is in the form of a shear sandwich having endplates 23 and an interleaf 24. The encasing element has surfaces 18 which, as shown, are part-spherical, but may be cylindrical. The surfaces 19 of the elements 16, 17 facing the surfaces 18, are of similar part-spherical or cylindrical shape. The links 11, 12, are in longitudinal alignment, under normal loading, as shown. The deflection-rate of the mounting is S-shaped.
