Abstract

775,604. Resilient mountings for vehicle bodies. VAUXHALL MOTORS, Ltd. Feb. 8, 1956 [Feb. 10, 1955], No. 3943/55. Classes 108(2) and 108(3). A resilient mounting comprises a pin 6 secured between two spaced plates 9A, 11, an annular bushing 2 having two outwardly-flared conical internal portions, a pair of sleeves 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, each having a conical external surface of rubber, a pair of spacing members 4, 5, each carried by respective ends of the pin 6, and interposed between one of the plates 9A, or 11, and the adjacent sleeve 3, or 31, and having a concave surface engaging the rubber of the latter, and screw means 7 for drawing together the plates 9A, 11, to cause the rubber of the sleeves 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, to adhere to the bushing. As shown, the mounting is applied to the support of the cross member 1 of the cab of a commercial motor vehicle on a chassis cross member 10. A channel section member 9 bolted to the member 10, has one limb forming the plate 9A, and has another limb 9B to which is bolted the plate 11. The spacing member 4 has a projecting flange 4B which is adapted to be engaged by a flange of the bushing 2 to limit extreme deflection of the mounting. Each sleeve 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, comprises an internal metal ring 3A on which a rubber annulus 3B is stretched. Penetration of the sleeves 3<SP>1</SP>, 3, is limited by flanges 3C integral with the rubber annulus 3B.
