Abstract

737,910. Exchange systems. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS GES. June 30, 1953 [June 30, 1952; April 20, 1953], No. 18181/53. Addition to 732,354. Class 40 (4). The chain of self-holding relays described in the parent Specification is modified so that the trip winding of each chain relay cannot be energized before the next chain relay pulls up. The chain steps automatically when switch Sch and relay B are operated. Steering relay S1 operates with relays I and J pending operation of M. Relay S1 then falls back, S2 pulls up and II operates in a circuit including the parallel connected trip windings Ia, IVa ... IXa and a resistance W, and it is only when II pulls up that the trip winding Ia operates. At each step, an impulse is reverted to relay J. The chain may lock with two relays operated, if the battery on La is temporarily interrupted. This fault is avoided in the arrangement shown in Fig. 2 in which the trip windings are connected in series and are shortcircuited two at a time by chain relay contacts. When chain relay J operates with S1, the trip winding is short-circuited over a chain of contacts 1, 3 ... 15, 16 ... 2 until II pulls up.
