Abstract

737,672. Battery cages. PATCHETT, Ltd., R. J. Sept. 11, 1953 [Sept. 13, 1952], No. 23046/52. Class 5 (2). Poultry batteries, laying cages and the like are provided with a flexible endless belt 3 which is cleaned by rotating brushes 10, 11 situated in a water trough 9. A pair of squeegees 18 are located above the brushes for wiping the belt after its passage through the trough. Droppings are removed by scrapers 19 and are deposited in containers 20. The belt is mounted on pulleys some of which are driven by electric motors 5. Reciprocating flat brushes may be used in place of rotary brushes.
