A frame comprising horizontal rails for the suspension of stiffening bars at the upper edges of folders and including vertical posts connected by cross bars, the whole to be inserted in a filing drawer or cabinet, has each rail at one end passed through and held frictionally by a slot bounded by part of a cross bar and part of a corner post and a hand-operated locking member, constituted by a strip which lies along the cross bar in a locking position, acts by lever or wedge action to urge the cross bar downwards to grip the rail. As shown in Figs. 1 and. 3, the frame comprises rails 1, cross bars 2 and corner posts 3 joined by bottom bars 25 all of uniform flat strip metal. Each corner post 3 is cranked to form a shoulder 4 an offset vertical part 5, a shoulder 6 and vertical upper end part 7 cut away to form a narrow neck 9 surmounted by a head 10 wider than the neck but narrower than the strip 3. Each cross bar 2 has at each end a down turned end 11 terminating in a tongue 12 and has a hole through which the head 10 may pass, the tongue 12 then entering a hole 8 in the shoulder 6, leaving a slot between the parts 7 and 11 through which the end of a rail 1 may be passed. The locking member 13, comprising a strip of metal, has two slots 14, 15, the slot 14 being long enough to pass over head 10 when at right angles to the bar 2 and wider than neck 9, the slot 15, in the locking position, lying under a hook 17 made by slotting the bar 2. In the locking position, the member 13 bears on a projection 16 on the bar 2 adjacent the hole for neck 9 to press the bar downwards to grip the rail 1. In a modification to narrow the width of the frame, the tongue 12 is cranked inwardly and the shoulder 6 narrowed in width. As shown in Fig. 7, the corner posts 3 and cross bars 2 are substantially the same, with no tongue 12 and hole 8, but the locking member 18 acts with a wedging action and comprises a strip with an elongated hole 19 to receive the neck 9 of the corner post 3 and allow movement in the direction of length of the strip. An inclined part 20 is formed outwardly of the hole 19 so that as the strip 18 is pressed inwardly, the part 20 rides up over the bend 22 between the bar 2 and its end 11 so that the bar 22 is pressed downwardly to grip the rail 1.
