Abstract
A thermoplastic composition comprises a mixture of coal tar with 5 to 50 per cent of its weight of a copolymer of styrene and butadiene containing at least 50 per cent, preferably 70 per cent, of styrene. The copolymer may be stirred into the heated tar or incorporated on the rollers of a mill. A filler such as granulated cork may be included. The composition may be used for pipe-jointing, expansion joints, or insulating materials, or in aqueous dispersion as an adhesive.
