Abstract

A process for pelleting a substance in finely-divided form comprises mixing the substance with a quantity of an aqueous dispersion of a substantially saturated polymer of an aliphatic mono-olefine having a sufficiently high viscosity to act as binder and then forming the mixture into pellets. The polymer is preferably polyisobutylene, although polyethylene, polypropylene and polybutylene may also be used. In examples directed to the preparation of pellets containing antioxidants or accelerators for addition to rubber mixes, an aqueous emulsion is prepared from polyisobutylene with the aid of triethanolamine oleate which may be prepared from triethanolamine and oleic acid, tetramethyl thiuram disulphide, mercaptobenzthiazole, cyclohexylbenzthiazyl sulphenamide, or polymerized 2,2,4 - trimethyl - 1,2 - dihydroquinoline, optionally with the addition of a solid detergent such as sodium dodecylbenzene sulphonate and sodium sulphate, the resulting mixture being extruded to form pellets.ALSO:Vanadium pentoxide catalyst for use in the manufacture of sulphuric acid is obtained by adding polyisobutylene emulsion and a mixture of sodium dodecylbenzene sulphonate and sodium sulphate to the powdered oxide in a mixing-machine and after thorough mixing, extruding it through a cutting-mechanism to produce pellets.ALSO:A process for pelleting a substance in finely divided form comprises mixing the substance with a quantity of an aqueous dispersion of a substantially saturated polymer of an aliphatic mono-olefine having a sufficiently high viscosity to act as binder and then forming the mixture into pellets.
