[Also in Group XXII] A quick-release fastening of the stud-andsocket type comprises a tubular body 10 with a reduced end 20 that is secured in one of the members 11 to be fastened by flanging at 28, and contains a headed screw 22 secured against complete withdrawal by flanging at 24. The screw has flats 30 and a quick-pitch screwthread 29 relieved both at root and crest at the leading edge to ensure easy engagement with a corresponding tapped opening 18, of which a number may be provided in an angle bar 15 secured at 16 to the member 14 to which the panel &c. 11 is to be bolted. Detent members 31, 32 for yieldingly locking the screw in two positions spaced by ninety degrees, confine between themselves and the screwhead, a nest of spring washers 43. The detent 32 is locked in position by a pin 33 engaging a hole in the panel 11 and it is cut away to form shoulders 42 that engage a pin 41 in the detent 31 to limit relative movement to a quarter turn. Ribs 40 on the detent 31 engage grooves in the detent 32 in the free and locked positions of the screw and nut. The detent 31 has a hole shaped to engage the flats 30 in the screw.
