A tube bending machine in which a tube is clamped to a former and the clamp and former are rotated to bend the tube is characterized in that such rotation is effected by an oscillated radial vane in a fluid pressure cylinder. A tube 15 to be bent is pushed along a supporting mandrel 17 to a position adjacent a grooved bending former 21 secured on an oscillatable U-frame 45, 47. The end of the tube projecting beyond the mandrel and former is then clamped against a part 53 on the frame 45 adjacent the former by a slidable head 55 moved against a spring 67, by a cam wedge 61 on the rod of a, piston and cylinder unit 57 carried by the frame 45, 47. A grooved guide block 71 is then moved laterally by a piston and cylinder unit 73 on a fixed frame 11 into contact with the trailing end of the tube, rollers 79 between the unit 73 and block 71 permitting the block 71 to slide longitudinally with the tube as it is bent round the former. The frame 45, 47 and thus the former 21 and clamp 53, 55 is then rotated about the axis of the former to bend the tube therearound by a hydraulic actuating unit 23 on the frame 11. The unit 23 comprises a fixed cylinder 25, coaxial with the former, in which cylinder is oscillatable a radial vane 27, to stub shafts 41 of which the frame 45, 47 is secured. A valve 37 controlling the unit 23 may be put in a position in which the frame 45, 47 may be rotated manually. A limit switch may control the valve 37 and thus the degree of bend. The bent tube is pushed off the mandrel 17 by an ejector 83.
