736,533. Mashing and sieving foodstuffs. DAWKINGS, W. V., and DAWKINGS, D. March 3, 1954 [March 5, 1953], No. 6168/53. Class 28 (2). Potatoes are mashed through the perforations 20 of a cylinder 1 by an internal roller 16 rotated round the inner surface of the container and also rotated on its own shaft 13 to give either rubbing or rolling contact. The drive means may comprise a hand rotated wheel 8, driving through bevel gearing a horizontal shaft 4 carrying a radial arm 11 carrying a crankpin shaft 13 on which is mounted the roller 16. The roller 16 is also rotated on its own shaft through a sun-wheel ring gear 19 on the shaft 4 rotating gears 18 and 17. The potatoes are pushed through a feed hopper 2 to the cylinder 1.
