Abstract

The invention comprises bases and salts thereof, the bases having the formula <FORM:0736372/IV (b)/1> wherein R1 is alkyl, n is a digit greater than one, y is a digit and -NR2 is selected from dialkylamino and saturated heterocyclic radicals. Such compounds are obtained by the reaction of 9-alkyl-fluorenes with monochloralkyl tertiary amines using sodium amide as the condensing agent or by the condensation of a 9 - alkyl - 9 - (o - chloroalkyl)fluorine with morpholine or other secondary amine. As salts are mentioned the hydrochloride, sulphate, hydrobromide, phosphate and citrate. In example (1) N-[2-(9-methylfluorenyl-9)-ethyl]dimethylamine hydrochloride is prepared by reacting b -chloroethyldimethylamine with the reaction product from 9-methylfluorene and sodium amide. Similarly prepared are (2) 4 - [3 - (9 - methylfluorenyl - 9) - propyl]morpholine hydrochloride; (3) N-[2-(9-ethylfluorenyl-9)-ethyl]dimethylamine hydrochloride; (4) 4-[2 - (9 - ethylfluorenyl - 9) - ethyl]morpholine hydrochloride; (5) 1-[3-(9-ethylfluorenyl-9)-propyl]piperidine hydrochloride; (7) 4-[2-(9-methylfluorenyl - 9) - 1 - methylethyl]morpholine hydrochloride; (8) 1-[2-(9-methylfluorenyl-9) - 1 - methylethyl]piperidine hydrochloride. In example (6) 4-[4-(9-ethylfluorenyl-9)-butyl]-morpholine hydrochloride is prepared by refluxing 9 - ethyl - 9 - (4 - chlorobutyl)fluorene and morpholine in isopropanol.
