A connecting-rod comprises rigidly-interconnected pieces of flat metal 12, 13, 14 forming an I-cross-section, and ends 10, 11, 28 produced from forgings or castings. The end 11, 28 is preferably dropforged to correct shape and the end 10 produced by turning a length of tubing. Projections 35, 36 on the web 14 of iron, steel or light metal are received in slots in the flanges 12, 13 and the assemblage is held together by gas-protected soldering which need not extend around the small end 10.
