Abstract

681,885. Carding - engines. WHITIN MACHINE WORKS. March 28, 1951, No. 7251/51. Class 120(i) A composite card flat comprises a solid steel T-bar 10 and pre-formed end seating members 12 rigidly and permanently secured to the ends of bar 10, the end portions of the middle flange 10a of the T-bar being entirely cut away to provide flat seating surfaces 21 for members 12 which are secured in abutting relation to surfaces 21, to the transverse end faces 22 of the T- bar and to the end faces 20 of the middle flange, e.g. by welding or brazing. End members 12 have curved guiding surfaces 16, and stands 18 for attaching to suitable chains; they may be cast or moulded from powdered metal and are preferably porous so that they can be impregnated with lubricant.
