Abstract

A composition for colouring and protecting zinc-surfaced articles comprises an aqueous solution of ammonium persulphate, chromic acid and trifluoroacetic acid, the latter in amount sufficient to form a uniform bronze coloured film on the article. In a modification, a deep olive drab coating is formed by including ammonium, sodium or potassium chloride in the solution.
