735,548. Motor vehicles. DAIMLERBENZ AKT.-GES. June 12, 1953 [June 14, 1952], No. 16258/53. Classes 79(2) and 79(3). [Also in Group XXXIV] In a motor vehicle comprising a power transmission system 3 and a braking system (15-19), the control or operativeness of both systems being dependant upon an external source of hydraulic pressure, the source consists of a pump 5 driven by the vehicle road wheels. An engine-driven pump 4 is connected by pipes 7, 9 to the hydraulic power transmission 3, and by pipes 7, 10 to the pedal-operated valve 11 of the braking system. The valve 11 is connected to a brake cylinder 18 which may be an integral casting with the housing of the transmission 3. The pump 5 is driven from the propeller shaft 6, and is connected at 13 and 14 with the brake system and transmission housing respectively. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown), the pump 4 is dispensed with. The pump 5, in this case (Fig. 3, not shown) comprises two pairs of gears, one pair feeding the transmission 3, and the other pair feeding the brake system. Each pair may be hydraulically isolated from the other.
