735,465. Stands for hand-irons. LINCOLN, A. E., and LINCOLN, J. Dec. 4, 1953 [Dec. 4, 1952], No. 30785/52. Class 138 (2). A laundry-iron stand comprises a rigid platform panel made of or faced with heatresisting material 1, leg elements 6 hingedly or pivotally carried by the panel at its opposite ends and capable of being swung about horizontal axes to take up alternative positions, in one of which positions they are disposed beneath the panel in contact with its underface to support the panel, the other position (Fig. 4, not shown), being one in which the leg elements extend upwardly from the panel and serve as a former over which can be wound a length of flex attached to an iron standing on the panel. Each leg element 6 may be made by bending a length of wire to form a V or U- shaped leg at each end of a central bridge portion 5, the wire continuing from each leg into a spindle-forming portion 4. The panel comprises an asbestos sheet 1 covered on the under-face by a metal sheet having boundary portions 2 bent over to engage the upper face of the asbestos sheet. Small openings 3 are formed at each corner of the framing to receive the spindle portions 4.
