Abstract

335,748. Watts, J. R. Oct. 8, 1929. Trouser presses and stretchers. - Relates to trouser presses and stretchers of the type intended to be operated in a substantial upright position and comprising an outer hinged board 10, a spring pressed inner board 15, a lower spring pressed board 17 between the board 10 and the pivot 11 of the outer board, and consists in the provision of separate clips at each side to maintain the press boards in position when closed. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 6, a spring clip 18 is pivoted on the lower two-part press board 15 at each side, and may engage the upper board or a transverse metal rib thereon. The board 10 is provided with strips 22 which are bent as shown and are pivoted at 11. The ends of the strips are shaped at 23 to provide stops for limiting the movement of the top board. The base is a metal framework. In one construction, the device is provided with lugs 31 for hanging it up. In another construction it is detachably mounted on a base. A stretching roller 30 or mechanical stretching means may be provided.
