Abstract

218,309. Grimberg, J. June 26, 1923, [Convention date]. Coat and like hangers. -A hanger capable of taking garments of different widths comprises telescoping members 10, 11 with slots 12, 13 capable of registering, a hook 17 pivotally mounted in the slots, and clips 16 mounted on extensions 15. The pivotal movement of the hook serves to clamp the sliding members by means of a bent spring plate 21 which is shown in the released position in Fig. 4 and is attached underneath the flattened end 18 of the hook by means of a rivet 19. Depressed portions 23 engage the sliding members when the hook is turned into a vertical position. The sliding members may be turned over at 14 to maintain engagement. Recesses 24, 25 which may be brought into register facilitate assembly of the hook and spring plate on the sliding members.
