Abstract

735,305. Suspending curtains. LISLE, U. L. ORCHARD-, and GIRLING, A. H. G. May 19, 1953 [May 19, 1952], No. 12559/52. Class 52 (5). A curtain suspension device wherein the curtain hooks are raised from and lowered on to a track by means of a carrier as the curtain is being withdrawn and drawn comprises a channel-section rail 11 within which is mounted a carriage A comprising a vertical web 12 mounted on wheels 13 which run on the bottom of the track. Adjacent its trailing end the web 12 is provided with a ramp 121 and a notch 122. Curtain hooks 14 rest on rolledover sections 111 of the track when the curtain is drawn. As the curtain is withdrawn the carriage moves along the track and a hook 14 rides up the ramp 121 and is lifted from the track 11, the hooks 14 being picked up successively and packed on the web. On drawing the curtain the hooks are pulled off the web one by one, each hook being checked by momentary engagement with the notch 122 so that the material between adjacent hooks 14 is stretched to the required extent before the release of a succeeding hook. In a modification for use with curved tracks such as are used for cubicles, the carriage A is formed of a flexible web 12 to which are riveted plates 124 provided with wheels 18 and rollers 19 for guiding them in the track. The foremost plate 124 is provided with recesses 127 to receive a plurality of hooks 14, thus allowing the curtain to be bunched at the junction with another cubicle.
