In a combined washing- and drying-machine a centrifugal drying basket 3 is disposed so as to extend partly over a washtub 2. Water coming from the basket 3 thus falls directly into the tub 2. A motor 4 drives the washing mechanism (not shown) in the tub 2 and is connected to the basket 3 by a spindle 5.
