Abstract

733,564. Centrifugal switches. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., EDWARDS, D. A., and GREEN, G. R. Oct. 8, 1953 [Oct. 8, 1952], No. 25232/52. Class 38 (5). A switch for controlling the starting circuit of a motor comprises a pivoted contact member and a pivoted actuating member having parallel axes and connected together by a snap-action spring, the actuating member having a part cooperating with a radially-moving part of a centrifugal mechanism coupled to the rotor of the motor, the centrifugal mechanism preferably being that of Specification 733,365. The fixed contact 4 is carried by a base 1 to which are secured brackets 5 having flanges 5e with recesses 5f in which are engaged lugs 8 of the moving contact member 7. The actuating member 9 has lugs 9b engaging recesses 5g in flanges 5b of the brackets and is connected to member 7 by a tension spring 12. Member 9 also has two arms 9f co-operating with the centrifugal mechanism.
