Abstract
733,550. Windscreen cleaners. TRICO PRODUCTS CORPORATION. Oct. 26, 1953 [Oct. 27, 1952], No. 29576/53. Class 138 (1). A windshield cleaner comprises two wipers driven from a single electric motor, power transmission means for driving one wiper faster than the other so that after a predetermined number of wiper cycles of one wiper, the two wipers will be momentarily brought into phase, and control means for the motor. The electric motor 1, Fig. 4, drives through a worm 3, gears 4, 5 having 64 and 80 teeth respectively. The gears 4, 5 are respectively connected by cranks 13, 131, Fig. 3, and linkage 15 to the pivot shafts of the wiper blades (not shown). In the position of the cranks shown the wiper blades will be in a parked position and adjacent one another along the bottom of the windshield. Each crank has a cam lug 28 and in the positions shown in Fig. 3, the cams engage plungers 25 of switches 21 to open those switches. These switches are in parallel with the operating switch for the motor. When the wipers are started the wiper operable by the crank 13 will effect five complete cycles to every four complete cycles of the wiper operable by the crank 131. On breaking the operating switch the motor and wipers will continue to operate until both switches 21 simultaneously open with the wipers in parked position.
