Abstract
733,477. Attaching seals to fabrics. STANLEY & SONS, Ltd., A. Oct. 27, 1952 [Oct. 27, 1951], No. 25168/51. Class 73. A seal 8, Fig. 4 for attaching to a roll of fabric A is made of plastic, e.g. cellulose acetate, and is formed with a loop 8a, the securing tape 9 being first looped through a slit in the fabric and a separately formed plastic loop 10 threaded on to the doubled tape, the adjoining free ends of the tape being then passed through the loop 8a and back through the loop 10 as shown in Fig. 3, whereupon the loop 10 is slid down to effect a tight fit around the loop 8a as shown in Fig. 4 and to grip the tape 9. A small quantity of acetone or other solvent is then introduced into the open top of the loop 10 to emulsify the contacting surfaces of the two loops and to effect such attachment thereof that they can be separated only by their destruction. The paper 11 on the seal is such as to permit the penetration of acetone or other solvent therethrough, so that its removal can be effected only by scraping.
