Abstract

732,739. Measuring instruments. ELEKTRO-TRETON GES. April 23, 1953, No. 11220/53. Class 37. [Also in Group XXXVII] A moving coil instrument comprises a permanent magnet 10 having two pole-pieces 11, 12 forming an air gap 14 in which is arranged one side of a moving coil 15, to the opposite side of which are attached two pivots 16 co-operating with bearings 17 so that when the coil is energized it will move about the bearing to cause a pointer 18 to move. The parts 16 are made of a ferromagnetic material so that an attraction with the polepiece 12 is formed so as to allow the instrument to be used in any position without the coil dropping out of its bearings. Two helical springs 19 are provided to lead the current to and from the coil and the weight of the pointer 18 is arranged to counterbalance that of the coil.
