Abstract
732,454. Protective cut-out arrangements. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. July 31, 1953 [Aug. 1, 1952], No. 19509/52. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XL (c)] An overload protective arrangement comprises a resistance-capacitance time-lag circuit 6, 7 fed by a rectifier 5 from a protection transformer 2, a coil-operated contact 11 being connected to the capacitance so as to short-circuit it when closed during normal operation. The transformer is also connected to a gas discharge tube 10 in series with the coil 9, which opens contact 11 when tube 10 conducts in the event of overload. The condenser 7 is also connected to the grid 15 of a gas discharge tube 13 which is caused to strike when the condenser potential builds up sufficiently, thereby energizing a trip coil 18. Tubes 10, 13 may be of the coldcathode type.
