Abstract

732,417. Combined embossing and printing machines. HEBERLEIN & CO. AKT.-GES. June 19, 1953 [June 20, 1952], No. 17005/53. Class 100 (2). A textile finishing machine comprises an impression cylinder 13 for supporting a web W of textile fabric, an embossing cylinder 20 having raised portions 21, Fig. 3, on its surface adapted to bear against the impression cylinder and emboss the web passing between them, a printing cylinder 23 identical in size and surface configuration with the embossing cylinder 20 engaging the web after the embossing cylinder to project the raised portions 24, into the depressions in the web, inking rollers 27, 28, 29 furnishing colour to the portions 24 of the printing cylinder and means driving the cylinders so that their peripheral speeds are the same. A smooth roller may also be provided to apply colour to all parts of the web except the depressed parts. The pressure of the embossing cylinder may be adjusted by a screw 37 and a worm gear adjustment is provided to ensure correct register of the printing cylinder with the embossments on the web. The web may be previously treated with resin and the cylinder 20 may be heated to cure the resin during the embossing process and render the embossment permanent.
