Abstract
732,215. Coke oven leveller bars. SIMON-CARVES, Ltd. (Otto & Co., Ges., Dr. C.). Oct. 26, 1953, No. 29501/53. Class 51 (2). Deformation of a leveller bar for a horizontal coke oven battery is alleviated by constructing the major part of the bar as a hollow sheet metal body, flat at the bottom and having rounded sides and a closed free end, with one or more vertical cross-pieces running through the bar in the longitudinal direction. In the preferred embodiment, the leveller bar 18 is supported on the coke pusher machine 16 between rollers 17 and 19, carried by supports 20 which may be adjusted vertically. The section of the bar which is introduced into the coke oven chamber has a rear part comprising rounded sides 21, 22, flat top and bottom plates 24 and 26 respectively, and vertical longitudinal crosspieces 23 and 25, the latter extending through the bar to form a lower central fin which may pass between vertical guide rollers. In the middle part of the bar, the cross-pieces 23 are omitted, and the top plate is ridge-shaped. The front end of the bar comprises side plates 27, 28 joined by angular cross-pieces 29, having the vertex of the angle pointing forwardly and a nose piece 31. The front end of the bar is bolted to connecting channels 34, which are fixed to the hollow part of the bar. The bar may be mounted on a separate machine running on the same track as the coke pusher machine.
