Abstract

730,705. Refuse containers. MILLETT, C. B. July 18, 1953, No. 19994/53. Class 26. A refuse container, particualrly adapted for receiving ash from the ash tray of a slowburning grate, has an internal openwork partition 9 so that with the container on its side, as shown, a charged ash tray 8 can be introduced into the compartment 4 and the lid 7 closed and the container lifted to an upright position so that the container is retained in the compartment 4 while its contents are discharged into the compartment 5. The lid 7 is coupled to the handle 13 and legs 24 by a link 15 so that it is held closed when the container is being carried by the handle and is swung open when the container is placed on its side as shown. The partition 9 may consist of a few rods or bars, or be perforated plate designed to act as a sieve.
