Abstract
The invention comprises the organo-mercury compounds of the general formula <FORM:0730628/IV (b)/1> wherein R represents an alkyl group and X represents the N-residue of N7-theophylline, N-succinimide or N-phthalimide, and a process for the preparation thereof by treating an aqueous solution of a compound of the general formula <FORM:0730628/IV (b)/2> wherein R has the above significance, with theophylline, succinimide or phthalimide. In the examples: 3-succinimido- and 3-phthalimido - mercuri - 2 - methoxy - propylurea and 3 - ureido - 2 - methoxy - propyl mercuri - N7-theophylline are prepared.ALSO:A therapeutic composition having diuretic properties comprises an injectable carrier e.g., an aqueous solution of an alkali metal salt, and an organo-mercury compound of the general formula: <FORM:0730628/VI/1> wherein R represents an alkyl group and X represents the N- residue of N7- theophylline, N- succinimide or N- phthalimide.
