Abstract
A shampoo comprises an aqueous solution of a cationic detergent compound containing in the cationic portion a straight chain hydrocarbon group containing from 11 to 13 carbon atoms and containing a hydrophilic amino group, an organic acid in a proportion of 25 to 50 per cent by weight of the detergent and a non-ionic surface active polyether alcohol of a nuclear-substituted phenol having the general formula <FORM:0730279/III/1> R being an alkyl radical containing at least four carbon atoms, x being 2 or 3 and n being an integer. Specified cationic detergents are lauryl - amido - ethyl - pyridinium sulphate and/or chloride, the lauric ester of N-dimethyl ethanolamine hydrochloride and the hydrochloride of the ester formed between lauric acid and the condensation product of triethanolamine with six mols. of ethylene oxide. Lactic acid is a suitable organic acid. Specified polyether alcohols are the condensation products of one mol. of iso-octyl phenol with 9 mols. of ethylene oxide, one mol. of dodecyl phenol with 12 mols. of ethylene oxide, one mol. of dodecyl phenol with 6 mols. of ethylene oxide, and the condensation product of one mol. of di-(iso-hexyl-iso-heptyl) phenol with 6.5 mols. of ethylene oxide. A hydrophilic colloid or other thickening agent such as a carboxymethyl cellulose may also be added. The pH of the solutions is preferably below 4. Specification 470,181 is referred to.ALSO:A shampoo comprises an aqueous solution of a cationic detergent compound containing in the cationic portion a straight chain hydrocarbon group containing from 11 to 13 carbon atoms and containing a hydrophilic amino group, an organic acid in a proportion of 25 to 50 per cent by weight of the detergent and a non-ionic surface active polyether alcohol of a nuclear-substituted phenol having the general formula <FORM:0730279/VI/1> R being an alkyl radical containing at least four carbon atoms, x being 2 or 3 and n being an interger. Specified cationic detergents are lauryl-amido-ethyl-pyridirium sulphate and/or chloride, the lauric ester of N-dimethyl ethanolamine hydrochloride and the hydrochloride of the ester formed between lauric acid and the condensation product of triethanolamine with six mols of ethylene oxide. Lactic is a suitable organic acid. Specified polyether alcohols are the condensation products of one mol of iso octyl phenol with 9 mols of ethylene oxide, one mol of dodecyl phenol with 12 mols of ethylene oxide, one mol of dodecyl phenol with 6 mols of ethylene oxide, and the condensation product of one mol of di-(isohexyl-iso-heptyl) phenol with 6.5 mols of ethylene oxide. A hydrophilic colloid or other thickening agent such as a carboxymethyl cellulose may also be added. The pH of the solutions is preferably below 4. Specification 470,181, [Group III] is referred to.
