Abstract

729,642. Clamps. ROBINSONS OF WINCHESTER, Ltd., [formerly ROBINSON CLOCHE CO., Ltd.]. April 28, 1952 [April 27, 1951], No. 9875/51. Addition to 660,892. Class 44. [Also in Group X] A cast iron clamp for securing together two Dutch lights 11, 14 in angular relation to form adjacent side and roof sections of a horticultural shelter, or the like, comprises an outer V-shaped member 1 with one limb cranked at 2, and a complementary inner member 3 of T, or inverted L shape with one limb cranked at 4 to correspond with the outer member 1, the two parts being drawn together by a bolt 5 and nuts 9, 10 so that the inner surface of the roof frame 14 overlaps the top edge of the side frame 11. The bolt 5 may be secured to the member 1 e.g. by thread engagement, or by welding, or a coach bolt may be used, in which case a rectangular recess is formed in the member 1 to receive the square portion of the bolt 5. The latter passes through a hole, or slot 7, in the member 3 and preferably through a corresponding hole 23 in the top of the frame 11. In an alternative arrangement the bolt 5 may be secured to, or non-rotatably located in, the plate 3 to project outwardly. Clamps 22, of the type described in the parent Specification secure the frames 14 at the ridge, and the clamps 1, 3 at the corners of adjacent frames are united by tie bars, not shown.
