Abstract
728,794. Recovering solids from back water of paper-making machines &c. ALBREKTSSON, J. O. G., and KARLSTROM, A. M. R. May 22, 1953, No. 14497/53. Class 96. [Also in Group I] Fibres &c. are removed from back water of paper mills &c. by flotation and suction, e.g. using a rotating suction pipe 4 and suction nozzle 5 which also maintains the flotation tank 1 under partial vacuum, the air &c. for the flotation being introduced as an air dispersion, e.g. in clarified back water. Such water, maintained at a constant level by contacts 33 &c. in a tank 10 under pressure, is circulated by a pump 18 through an ejector 13 and past nylon brushes &c. 23 to increase the mixing effect, the air dispersion being drawn off at 29, and supplied at 32 to the back water as it rises from a box 6 up the inlet 2 to the tank 1. In a modification, the fibres &c. are removed by skimming-blades.
