727,496. Interference suppressor capacitors. DUBILIER CONDENSER CO. (1925), Ltd. July 20, 1953 [Aug. 7, 1952], No. 19912/52. Class 37. A suppressor capacitor of the wound type has its two electrodes connected respectively in series with the leads of a double-pole interfering circuit and has a connection to each electrode brought out at each end. A core of H.F. magnetic material may be used to increase the mutual inductance effect between the coiled electrodes which thus form a two-wire transmission line. It is preferable to connect the outer ends of the electrodes, where the inductance/capacitance ratio is greatest, to the source of interference, and to take connections from the ends of one electrode from opposite edges of the roll to give more even H.F. current distribution. A coreless capacitor with these features is shown in Fig. 3, the roll G being positioned and sealed in a preferably metal cylinder H by an annulus HI of insulating material, the cylinder ends being formed by insulating discs H2 with tubular metal inserts H3 soldered to terminals A2, B2. In Fig. 6 (not shown) the condenser is wound on a magnetic dust core or on a core of magnetic ceramic material, the electrodes being connected to separate conducting rings on the insulating core to which the lines are soldered, while in Fig. 7 the lines are threaded through diametral holes F1, F2, F3, F4 in the core D, to the electrodes. In all embodiments the dielectric may be impregnated and the assembly encased in moulded insulating material. Specification 607,394 is referred to.
