Abstract
855,343. Capacitors: circuit assemblies. DUBILIER CONDENSER CO. (1925) Ltd. March 6, 1957 [March 9, 1956], No. 7546/56. Class 37. In an interference suppressor comprising a feed through capacitor, surrounding and connected to a central conductor, the series impedance of the central conductor is increased by surrounding it with two sleeves of high permeability, low loss magnetic material, one sleeve on either side of the capacitor. Fig. 1 shows two coated disc ceramic or other dielectric capacitors B separated by a ferrite sleeve C with two further ferrite sleeves Cl C2 threaded over the ends of the centre conductor A. The inner electrodes B1 are soldered to the centre conductor A or may be bonded by a heat-hardening conducting cement which can also secure the ferrite sleeve C. The outer electrodes are similarly bonded to conducting end caps E2 which support the outer screen G, alternatively, the flanges El may be extended to meet each other. The centre conductor A is sealed in the threaded mounting bushes E2 by insulating plugs F of heat-hardening resin such as an epoxy resin. Fig. 3 shows disc capacitors replaced by capacitors N1 N2 wound on conducting tubes H. Each capacitor is connected between the centre conductor A and flanged discs PQ soldered to the two-section screen G1 G2 insulating spacers M4, P1, P2, Ql being provided. In another embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the earthy sides of the capacitors are bonded directly to the outer screens and a threaded mounting bush is provided at each end. Fig. 4 shows a dielectric tube R carrying a common earthy electrode Rl and two inner electrodes R2 and R3 bonded to the centre conductor A, Modifications. The ferrite sleeves may be replaced by magnetic powder, distributed through a resinous carrier. 'The capacitors and the insides of the end caps may be varnished. Internal spacers may be filled with a resin. More than two capacitors with additional magnetic sleeves may be used.
